About Dream Out Loud Center for The Arts
The Dream Out Loud Center (formerly Brick by Brick: A Community Organization) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization located in New Bedford, MA. Our mission is to advance the personal and career goals of South Coast residents through innovation, education and mentoring. We primarily do this through our Creative Careers Program, which uses creative writing, graphic design, music, theater and video projects to inspire a healthy individual and a vibrant community. Our center in the Kilburn Mill at Clarks Cove in New Bedford provides a supportive environment for both youth and adults who are pursuing a creative path and/or career.
All members participate in classes and utilize our writing space, graphic design lab, music production equipment, band space and recording studio, while also participating in business seminars and career-related discussions, along with being given a chance to be involved in the production of our publications, CDs, television shows, videos, theatrical productions, and/or musical performances.
Why Dream Out Loud
The Dream Out Loud Center for the Arts has been helping countless young people in New Bedford for decades through music, digital media and fine arts. Joel was one of those teens fortunate enough to have been in the program. Now Mr. Cordero would like to keep giving back for the positive impact the program made in his life.
Joel grew up sketching and painting and knew nothing of computers. In 1999 Dream Out Loud introduced Mr. Cordero to Photoshop when he was 15 and he has not stopped working with digital media ever since. Lessons learned while in this program helped him become the first licensed Drone Pilot at NBC News Boston and build a thriving business, Cordero Video & Photo Corp. Over the last 10 years he has emerged as one of the region’s leading real estate marketing professionals. He credits much of this to experiences with Dream Out Loud.
The exhibit will showcase Mr. Cordero’s aerial landscape photography. In addition, this year Mr. Cordero has invited a handful of local artists to exhibit their work as well. A portion of the proceeds will help fund Dream Out Loud’s 2025 youth empowerment programs.
